The fairly basic driving system at the moment wouldn't allow this - engine power is pretty much just a constant force that's eventually overcome by drag. But I do plan to rewrite the driving physics one day, other things are just higher priority at the moment, and then stuff like this could happen.
In the latest update mass has a little less of an effect on vehicle speed than it used to though, so heavy vehicles are a bit faster.
